Meet the City Manager: Gary Whitehead
Gary Whitehead serves as the City Manager for the City of Truth or Consequences, bringing a strong commitment to public service, transparency, and community development. With a focus on operational excellence and strategic leadership, Mr. Whitehead works closely with elected officials, city staff, and residents to ensure the effective delivery of municipal services and the long-term vitality of the community.

What Does the City Manager Do?
As the City Manager, Mr. Whitehead is the chief administrative officer of the city government. Appointed by the City Commission, he is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of all city departments

  • Implementing policies and directives set by the City Commission

  • Preparing and managing the city’s annual budget

  • Leading strategic planning and community development initiatives

  • Ensuring efficient, transparent, and accountable governance

  • Serving as a liaison between the public, city staff, and elected officials
